For a true gourmet, few things are as interesting as a properly prepared meal – the moment each ingredient comes together properly, it’s nearly miraculous. On the other hand, a poor menu can ruin an otherwise pleasant evening, so it’s a good idea to do some homework and look around for suggestions prior to deciding where to eat.
As if that does not make circumstances tricky enough, there’s a lot more to consider about a restaurant than just the menu! The atmosphere of a restaurant can easily make a difference in your general experience, whether it is snotty and unskilled wait staff or a badly behaved toddler the second table over. Nevertheless it’s not all unfavorable, obviously – an incredible setting can change a decent dish into a great dish!
We’ve lived within San Diego for many years now, and we have gathered a fairly good collection of dining establishments we really enjoy, which range from small hole-in-the-wall places to magnificent fine dining, and listed below are a few of our all-time faves (even though it was so challenging to select!). This is what those on Yelp.com are saying concerning our favorites:
1. The Oceanaire Seafood Room

This has to have one of the best views of any restaurant in San Diego, the food, service and overall atmosphere deserves 10 stars, I had the sweet onion soup followed by the almond crusted halibut and then of course desert, crème brulee with the best coffee I’ve had in a while. It’s members only so if you are ever invited, drop what you’re doing and by all means attend…..;)
